EDGE COMPUTING IN SPACE IS THE FUTURE

With the advent of 5G networks and the explosion of IoT devices and swarm satellites, traditional cloud computing networks will become inadequate and incapable of addressing the growing computational and latency requirements. While edge computing solutions are being adopted for terrestrial applications, there is no established edge computing platform available for space. The space industry currently relies on centralized cloud computing networks on the ground for data processing applications and could hugely benefit from adopting Edge computing solutions.

 

Exo-Space is working to provide edge computing satellites that will bring the world closer together. Using our services, satellite constellation operators will be able to process large amounts of data efficiently and economically in orbit, reducing network strain and bringing computation closer to the source.

 

Edge computing satellites have the potential to provide services for earth observation and IoT satellite constellations, on-orbit satellite servicing and manufacturing, government space agencies, and the military. As satellite technology improves, things like swarms of CubeSats, rendezvous and proximity operations for space tugs, and orbital refuelling are all becoming commercial products. These new technologies require cutting edge analysis to ensure mission success - this is the problem Exo-Space is trying to solve.
